GROW YOUR BLOG

This is me--Julie, and Minnie, one of the Doxie Girls.

Today is a very special blog post.
I've joined with Grow Your Blog 2015 along with hundreds of other bloggers.
Our host is Vicki at 2 Bags Full, and may I say thank you, first of all.
There are some rules to abide by, so allow me to follow them to a "T",
and then we'll get on to our Linky Party and a Giveaway!

I'm Julie--a Modern Quilter.
I love modern fabric, intense pattern, and improvisational piecing.
I'm all about machine quilting, but occasionally quilt one by hand.
I would pick a scrap quilt as my favorite 8 days of the week.

 I Dream in Color.

I blog at Pink Doxies because--
My 'old life' as a homeschooling mother was ending,
and I was inspired to reCreate ME!
A long time sewist and wanna-be artist,
I use the color therapy to battle Ohio's dark winters.
I'm famous for infecting people with the Quilt Bug,
and believe no one should have to sew alone.

Come sew with ME and the Doxie Girls!

If you like my style here, Follow Me.
You can click on the Bloglovin' Button,
or by email.
How about Twitter--I'm just new there,
or Instagram under PINKDOXIES?

Let me show You what makes me Smile.

I love all kinds of bags.

Hi, Julie! As a child, my favorite color was purple - isn't that every little girl's favorite? But now, it is orange. That may change though, because I have a love affair with color - any color!! Great giveaway, by the way - love your little selvage bag!

Barb Neiwert said...

My favorite color was pink. Pink, pink, pink. Now it is varieties of pinks/reds. Hasn't changed much, just a little more sophisticated with age! Nice to meet you. I'm doing the Grow Your Blog, too, and will have my post ready later tonight. See you around!

My favorite color was green as a child. Now I love every color and like scrappy rainbow quilts.

My favorite color as a child was blue, still is blue. I don't like muddy browns. ( I think your Charley Harper dog bed is too nice for a dog, though.)

Jeneta said...

As a child I loved blue, now I think I prefer orange. I think purple is my least favourite colour.

I loved yellow as a child but now I love all the girly colors, pink especially! I used to wear black and browns all the time so now these are my two least favorite colors. I'm a new quilter, so the brighter the better I say! Thanks for the giveaway, I love your style and colors, just awesome!

My favorite color as a child was blue. Now I think I like red. The color I generally avoid is brown. It just doesn't sing for me!

cathallen said...

My favourite colour as a child was blue because it was my mum's favourite. Now I love red, and I love putting blue & green next to each other, because I was always told they shouldn't be put together! I don't hate any colours. I just love colour, the brighter, the better!

Hi Julie! I'm visiting on behalf of Vicki at http://vicki-2bagsfull.blogspot.com/. Thanks for taking part in the Grow Your Blog Hop. I made a quilt for my son using that zombie fabric; love your pillow!

My favorite color as a child was green. Now, my favorite color is turquoise/aqua--I blame Bonnie and Camille for my obsession with this color. There really is not a color I dislike as a quilter, I know they all can look great depending on how they are used. Thanks for the giveaway!

So nice to meet you! I too was a homeschooling mom to my own guys. Thank you so much for visiting my blog. As a child my favourite colour was purple. As an adult my favourite colours are warm autumn colours. today, I really do not like pink or purple anymore.

Hi Julie!! As a child I loved red. Still love red with blaack and white. And I agree with Tanya, who doesn't love color as a quilter!!! I added your blog to my blogroll so not to miss a post and your linky button to my linky party page. SMILES! Glad we met. V:)

My favorite color as a child was purple and it is still purple. I go through stages where one color appeals to me more, but nothing more than purple. I don't have any color that I don't like, but I tend to like brighter colors and less the drab ones.

Thanks for the chance.

my favorite colors when i was younger were pink & purple, but now they're blue, green & teals.
i'm not sure there are colors i don't like, but i can't say i do much of anything with oranges & browns without them being used in very minor amounts.

I'm now an email follower. Love what you have posted today. My favorite color as a child was green and now it's red, but if polka dots can be considered a color then they are my favorite.

♥ your little bags! You have great talents. Your little pooch is adorable too.
My fav colours are blue and orange. My least fav is pink which was probably my most as a child since my entire bedroom was pink. Blue has always been in the top two.

Hi Julie! Nice to meet a fellow scrappy quilter, though the patterns I choose are much more traditional, I think. As a child, my favorite color was blue, as a teen it was black, now, I love pink! My least favorite color is yellow, especially chartreusey/neony hues.

Your bags are eclectic and wide-ranging. I've only made one bag and I love it. We had doxies when I was young. They are just too adorable! My favorite color as a child was pink, for most of my adult life it was blue which has expanded to a great love of turquoise. I really don't have a color I don't like for quilts. I wouldn't be seen wearing anything in bright orange or lime!

I am one of the volunteers with GYB to help Vicki in checking blog. She wants you to know how much she appreciates your participation in this years "hop!"

Beth said...

My favorite color was pink as a child. I still love it now, but have branched out to red. I used to hate orange, but have been won over, either by my orange loving sweetheart or (more likely, sadly) by popular culture and the saturation of seeing it everywhere.

Maggie said...

Wow, what a talented quilter you are, I loved seeing all the beautiful things you've created. Thanks for visiting Normandy Life yesterday, Vicki's GYB party is always great fun, but exhausting !

Hi! thanks for dropping by and thanks for becoming a follower! I'm in awe of your creativity. Great photos - hope to read more of your posts soon. cheers Wendy

Your bags and quilts are beautiful!! As a child I yearned for pink, which my mother wouldn't let me wear because my hair was flaming red. My sister always got pink and I was so envious. Now, when I could have all the pink I want, I tend to favor the blues and greens that my mother insisted on, lol. I don't think there is a color I can't abide, they all have a place to shine. :) It's been lovely meeting you!

Mokki said...

You've made some really lovely things. I looooove the colourful wonky logcabin! My favourite colour when I was little was mauve now its purple. So not that far off.

My favorite color as a child was yellow. Now it's orange. Love your bags and quilts - what a wonderful sense of color you have! I especially like the photo of your gray back with the FMQ - you're a natural. Your artistry shines. I'm having a giveaway, also - you're welcome to come and see. I'll be following you via Bloglovin'.

When I was a kid, I liked green, because all the other kids thought it was gross and I wanted to be different. Now I like blue mostly, but I actually like all colors. I don't think a single color is offensive, but combinations of colors are more offputting

MegsAnn said...

What a great collection of art! You should be proud. I've always loved purple; both as a child and now as an adult. When I was little I was all about the lavenders and now prefer darker plums and royals. I used to have lots of colors on my uglies list but I've learned to appreciate all of them. Mustard is one that I hated but was perfect in one of my projects. www.quiltartbymegan.com

Carole @ Fresh off the Frame said...

For a while I loved pink, and then yellow became my favourite. Eventually blue took over, and now I think it is a combination of colours rather than a single one. (Orange, purple, and green!) There isn't anything I actively dislike, but I don't love anything too wishy washy. Nice work, and cute barn animals!

Kathy H said...

I am going to enjoy following your blog. You have a lot of beautiful quilts and projects. I loved red as a child and it is still my favorite color. I don't dislike any color combination and have grown to like colors that were not my favorite by seeing how other people have used them.

Lisa said...

Hi, i am following now! As a girl it was purple at 50, Aqua, but really I love all the colors. I am colored challenged - what goes by what which brought me to the internet to learn more about mixing different colors into quilt!

Your bags are lovely. I like all bright colours but blues and greens are my favorites. I don't like brown / tans only in the natural world. Following via bloglovin. Thanks for the giveaway. I have one too, on my blog.

Hello dear, thanks for visiting me, it will be nice to be your follower. All the bags are lovely. I like all the nice, warm autumn colors, although it is very difficult to make a copy of the autumn. I'm going to be your follower. Loredana.

What fun to see all your colourful quilts and also your furry friends too! To answer your questions - 1 & 2 are the same - blue (it's always been blue!) and 3 would have to be baby pink. I like purple and burgundy too, but blue is hands down my favourite. Thank you so much for inviting us to visit with you!

Hi so glad you found me from the party-loving on your pretty colors in your quilts-very nice. Love your giveaway bag-have not sewn anything with the selvages-I think is always so neat looking.
I think my favorite color for years and years has been blue-I am open to most colors now-but my favorites are still earthy colors not brights

Great to meet you - I love your projects , especially your bags and pouches! I'm now following!
Blue has always been my favourite colour and I don't like brown!!

Hi Julie! Thanks so much for visiting my blog. I have had a good look around yours and I am loving all the colorful projects that you have done and look forward to following you to see more. My favorite color as a child was green until my cousin told me I couldn't have the same favorite color as her so I chose blue and it's still blue. The color I use least in my home decor would be yellow so I guess that would be my least favorite though I do use it in my projects. Glad to meet you!

Hello Julie! Visiting from GYB - thank you for visiting my blog (ofartandotherthings.com)!

So thrilled to find your blog as I love to sew but don’t find much time amidst the homeschooling - I was thrilled to read you used to home educate! I am in my 6th year with two boys and blog about that too. So fun!

Your sewing is amazing!!! Love the bags, the pouches, the pillows - especially the zombie fabric!!! Ha so awesome! Love it all!!

Love your giveaway too and I hope to offer one this year once I have enough artwork done:

Favourite colour as a child: chartreuse green
Favourite colour now: red, purple, and still chartreuse!
Do not like pink, except in small quantities! ;)

Definitely following your blog!

And are those llama? or alpaca? We have a friend with alpaca and their poop is great for our veggie garden! The boys even help scoop it up!

I am trying this again. You know everything you make is so creative; You come up with the best ideas! My favorite color as a child was blue. I still like blue but now it is all shades from Aqua to turquoise. There isn't any color I do not like as long as it catches my eye!

Love all the colors in your pics, Julie!! My favorite childhood color was yellow and now it's blue. The color I like the least is purple though I use it when necessary! Love the Charley Harper piece -- my studio walls are lined with some of the posters he did for parks during his lifetime!

My favorite color as a child and now is green... though in the past few months I have been more and more finding myself attracted to certain shades of vibrant blue. There aren't really any colors that I don't like so much as certain shades of a color. I don't like colors that are muddy or dull looking. I prefer bright and bold. Thanks for the giveaway and the chance to win.

I have a lot of blue in my closet which is the only way I know I like blue best. but I do have other colors as well and I think yellow must be my lest favorite because I have very little in my stash. I am always surprised when I go looking for yellow and am going to make an effort to buy more! yessewingisfun@yahoo.com
